Former SriLankan Airlines CEO Kapila Chandrasena Found Dead in Colombo

Former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of SriLankan Airlines, Kapila Chandrasena, was found dead at a residence in Colpetty on Friday (08), police said.

Police Media Spokesman Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) F. U. Wootler stated that Chandrasena is suspected to have died by suicide. The Colpetty Police have launched further investigations into the incident.

Chandrasena had recently been released on bail after being held in remand custody over allegations linked to the Airbus procurement deal involving SriLankan Airlines

However, he was ordered to be re-arrested and produced before the Colombo Magistrate’s Court after the Bribery Commission sought the cancellation of his bail.

Court proceedings revealed that the Bribery Commission had filed a motion before the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court requesting that the previously granted bail be revoked.
