Netflix plans to cut approximately 1,000 jobs, representing around 6% of its global workforce, in its largest round of layoffs in four years.
In a memo sent to employees on October 14, co-chief executives Ted Sarandos and Greg Peters announced that the job cuts would primarily affect the company’s product, technology, legal and human resources departments.
The streaming giant said the restructuring was aimed at reorganizing its operations and directing resources towards areas it considers essential for future growth.
According to Netflix’s annual report filed with US regulators, the company had approximately 16,000 full-time employees worldwide at the end of 2025.
The planned reductions mark a significant workforce restructuring for the company as it continues to adjust its business priorities in the highly competitive global streaming market.
