Yoshitha Rajapaksa Appears Before Court of Appeal Over Money Laundering Case

Yoshitha Rajapaksa appeared before the Court of Appeal of Sri Lanka today (16) for the hearing of a petition challenging a charge brought against him under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.

The petition seeks a ruling that the charge of "conspiracy" included in the case filed by the Attorney General's Department of Sri Lanka cannot be legally maintained.

The matter is scheduled to be heard before a Court of Appeal bench comprising Justices Amal Ranaraja and Dr. Sumudu Premachandra.

According to reports, Rajapaksa appeared in court to participate in the proceedings related to the petition. The court is expected to consider legal arguments on whether the conspiracy charge can proceed as part of the ongoing money laundering case.
