Vasavilan Residents Protest for Return of Lands in Palali High Security Zone

Residents of Vasavilan staged a protest on Saturday (August 2), demanding the return of lands under military control within the Palali High Security Zone to their original owners.

The demonstration, organized by the Vasavilan Resettlement Organization, began at 10:00 a.m. at the Vasavilan Junction, drawing residents calling for the restoration of their traditional lands and the right to resettle in their ancestral villages.

Protesters said their lands have remained under the control of the military for 36 years, preventing families from returning to their homes. They urged the government to release the occupied lands without further delay and facilitate the resettlement of displaced residents.

Meanwhile, land recovery protests in areas under the Palali Police Division continue to gain momentum. Demonstrations have already been taking place in Mylitti and Palali, with the people of Vasavilan joining the campaign on Saturday.

With the latest protest, demonstrations are now being held at three locations within the Palali Police Division, as residents continue to press the government to return military-held lands to their rightful owners and accelerate the resettlement process.
