UNP Working Committee Reviews 20-Year ‘Green Paper’ Vision for Sri Lanka

The United National Party (UNP) Working Committee met this evening at the party headquarters, ‘Siri Kotha,’ in Pitakotte, under the chairmanship of former President and UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe.

During the meeting, Wickremesinghe presented the party’s “Green Paper,” a consultative document outlining a long-term vision and common policy framework for Sri Lanka over the next 20 years.

According to the UNP, the document is intended to propose a long-term economic and policy framework aimed at bringing about significant changes to the country’s political and economic landscape.

The Green Paper outlines a proposed economic model based on principles associated with Theravada thought and examines the country’s future development under nine key themes.

The primary objective of the document is to provide a framework for planning Sri Lanka’s economy and development over the next two decades.

Following the presentation and discussion, UNP Chairman Vajira Abeywardena, Working Committee member Ajith Mannapperuma and other members expressed their views on the proposals.
