Monaragala Disaster Relief Officer Dismissed Over Alleged Misuse of Cyclone Compensation Funds

A Disaster Relief Services Officer in Sri Lanka’s Monaragala District has been dismissed following allegations of misappropriating compensation funds allocated for victims of Cyclone Ditwah.

The Government Information Department stated that the Grama Niladhari officer was removed from duty after complaints emerged regarding irregularities in the distribution and management of relief payments.

Authorities have also confirmed that the officer has been transferred to another division while further investigations into the alleged financial misconduct are underway.
