Trump Warns Iran’s Allies of ‘Tremendous’ Economic Consequences

U.S. President Donald Trump has warned countries and businesses supporting Iran that they could face “tremendous” economic consequences, as Washington intensifies pressure on Tehran amid the ongoing Middle East conflict.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump described the measures as the “most crushing economic operation ever taken against any country”, saying the campaign would amount to unprecedented economic warfare and isolation.

Trump warned that any country allowing its financial institutions, businesses, airports or government entities to provide support to Iran could face severe economic repercussions.

He specifically called for an immediate halt to activities including oil smuggling, financial swap lines, cash transfers, exchange houses, ship registries and the use of front companies to support Iran.

Trump did not identify any specific countries, but said those involved “know who they are.”

Before the conflict began, China, India, Turkey, Germany, South Korea and Japan were among Iran’s major trading partners.

“This will be an ECONOMIC D-DAY,” Trump said, urging U.S. allies to join Washington in isolating Iran. He also reiterated that Iran would not be allowed to acquire a nuclear weapon.

The latest warning comes as the U.S. Treasury continues its sanctions campaign against Tehran, known as “Operation Economic Fury,” aimed at restricting Iran’s access to financial resources and disrupting revenue streams.

The conflict began on February 28 with joint U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran that killed several senior Iranian leaders, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Iran subsequently launched attacks against U.S. and Israeli targets across the Middle East.
