Court of Appeal to Consider Gnanasara Thera’s Prison Attire Petitions on October 22

The Court of Appeal has ordered that petitions challenging the decision by prison authorities concerning the prison attire of Ven. Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thera, Secretary of the Bodu Bala Sena (BBS) organisation, be taken up for consideration on October 22.

The petitions seek a court order invalidating the decision taken by prison authorities regarding the attire of Gnanasara Thera, who is currently serving a prison sentence.

The petitions were taken up today (15) before a three-judge bench comprising Court of Appeal Judges Amal Ranaraja, Mahen Gopallawa and Priyantha Fernando.

After considering the submissions presented, the bench ordered that the petitions be taken up for further consideration on October 22.

The petitions were filed by a group of Buddhist monks, including Ven. Thiniyawala Palitha Thera.
