Sri Lanka's Annual Inflation Rises to 7.3% in July 2026

Sri Lanka's overall inflation, measured by the Colombo Consumer Price Index (CCPI) on a year-on-year basis, increased to 7.3% in July 2026, up from 6.8% recorded in June 2026, according to the Department of Census and Statistics.

The increase was largely driven by higher food prices, with food inflation rising to 6.3% in July from 3.6% in the previous month.

Meanwhile, non-food inflation eased to 7.8% in July 2026, compared to 8.4% recorded in June, indicating a moderation in price increases across the non-food category despite the overall rise in inflation.

The latest figures reflect continued inflationary pressures in the economy, with rising food costs contributing significantly to the increase in the overall inflation rate.
