Sri Lankan - American Gymnast Tiana Sumanasekera Chooses to Represent Sri Lanka Internationally

Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Sunil Kumara Gamage has announced that internationally acclaimed Sri Lankan-American gymnast Tiana Sumanasekera has officially decided to represent Sri Lanka in upcoming international competitions.

Welcoming the athlete’s decision, the Minister extended an open invitation to talented sportsmen and sportswomen of Sri Lankan origin living around the world to represent their motherland on the international stage.

He emphasized that the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports is committed to supporting such athletes by providing all necessary coordination and logistical assistance to facilitate their participation under the Sri Lankan flag.

According to the Minister, the inclusion of overseas Sri Lankan athletes will strengthen the country’s sporting talent pool and make a significant contribution to improving Sri Lanka’s performance in international competitions.

Expressing confidence in the initiative, Minister Gamage said he believes more athletes of Sri Lankan heritage will respond positively to the invitation and play a vital role in elevating Sri Lankan sport to greater heights in the years ahead.
