PUCSL to Exclude Coal-Related Costs from Future Electricity Tariffs

The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) has announced that it will exclude additional costs linked to the coal situation when revising electricity tariffs.

In an official statement, the Commission emphasized that only reasonable expenses related to electricity generation, transmission, and distribution will be taken into account during tariff revisions.

PUCSL also clarified that in the most recent tariff adjustment, it did not approve any extra costs arising from coal-related issues or other unjustified expenditures.

The Commission further stated that it has unanimously decided to continue this approach in the future, ensuring that any additional costs stemming from the coal situation or other unfair expenses will not be included in upcoming electricity tariff revision proposals.
