Professor N.D. Fernando Appointed Vice-Chancellor of University of Kelaniya

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has appointed Professor N.D. Fernando as the new Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya.

The letter of appointment was formally presented to Professor Fernando by Secretary to the President Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake at the Presidential Secretariat this morning (22), according to the President’s Media Division (PMD).

Professor Fernando previously served as Chairman of People’s Bank and is currently a Professor in the Department of Finance at the University of Kelaniya.

His appointment as Vice-Chancellor will take effect from August 24, 2026.
