Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya Departs for Qatar to Attend Funeral of Former Leader

Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya departed Sri Lanka on the evening of July 14 for an official visit to the State of Qatar to attend the funeral of the country's former leader, His Highness the Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.

The Prime Minister is attending the ceremony to convey the deepest condolences of the Government and the people of Sri Lanka.

During the visit, Dr. Amarasuriya is also scheduled to hold high-level meetings with the leadership of Qatar to express Sri Lanka's sympathies and reaffirm the longstanding friendship and cooperation between the two nations.

The visit reflects the close and cordial relations between Sri Lanka and Qatar and underscores Sri Lanka's commitment to further strengthening bilateral ties with the Gulf nation.
