Luxury House Worth Over Rs. 20 Million Frozen in Drug Trafficking Probe

 The Illegal Assets Investigation Division has frozen a luxury house valued at more than Rs. 20 million belonging to Ajith Perera, also known as “Deegala Saman,” who is currently serving a prison sentence for drug trafficking.

The two-storey residence is located in Ihala Thalduwa, Avissawella. Police investigations have revealed that the property was purchased under the name of the suspect’s mistress.

According to police, the suspect failed to provide a satisfactory explanation for the source of funds used to buy the house. Authorities therefore suspect that the property was acquired using proceeds from drug trafficking. As a result, the house has been frozen under the provisions of the Unlawful Assets Act.

The Police Media Division confirmed that the action is part of an ongoing effort to investigate and seize assets believed to have been illegally obtained by individuals involved in drug trafficking. Deegala Saman has been widely accused of operating within organized drug networks.
