French Singer Patrick Bruel Questioned Over Sexual Assault Allegations Involving 13 Women

French pop singer and actor Patrick Bruel has been taken into police custody for questioning as part of an investigation into allegations of rape, attempted rape, sexual assault, and harassment involving at least 13 women, according to French prosecutors.

Bruel, 67, rose to fame as one of France's biggest pop stars during the 1980s and 1990s and has appeared in more than 40 film and television productions.

The investigation began after three women accused Bruel of sexual assault and attempted rape in incidents allegedly occurring in 1997, 2000, and 2001. As the inquiry expanded, investigators identified additional women who reported allegations of sexual assault, rape, or harassment, bringing the number of alleged victims under investigation to 13.

French authorities are also examining two recently filed rape complaints, while separate investigations in France and Belgium have reportedly been consolidated under the jurisdiction of prosecutors in Nanterre.

Bruel has categorically denied all allegations. His legal team has stated that he intends to cooperate fully with investigators and provide evidence to support his innocence.

The case has sent shockwaves through France's entertainment industry, with several concerts and public appearances reportedly canceled amid the ongoing investigation. Prosecutors are expected to decide whether formal charges will be filed or whether Bruel will be released following questioning.
