Heavy Traffic Reported on Expressways Ahead of Long Weekend

A large crowd of commuters was reported at the Makumbura Multi-Modal Transport Centre in Kottawa on Wednesday, as people travelled ahead of the upcoming long weekend, according to an Ada Derana reporter.

Meanwhile, heavy traffic congestion has been reported at several entrance and exit points along the Southern Expressway, Outer Circular Expressway and Central Expressway.

The Road Development Authority (RDA) said traffic remained heavy near the Mattala exit of the Southern Expressway, the Kadawatha exit of the Outer Circular Expressway, and the Mirigama entrance and Yaggapitiya exit of the Central Expressway.

Motorists travelling through these areas have been advised to drive carefully and exercise caution.
