Delhi’s Illegal ‘Baby Bazaar’ Busted: Baby Boys Allegedly Sold for Rs 8 Lakh, Girls for Half the Price

Authorities in Delhi have uncovered an alleged child trafficking network, described by investigators as a clandestine “baby bazaar,” where newborns and infants were reportedly being bought and sold through an illegal adoption racket.

According to investigators, baby boys were allegedly sold for as much as Rs 8 lakh, while baby girls were sold for significantly lower amounts, highlighting a disturbing gender bias in the illegal trade.

Police have arrested several suspects in connection with the operation and rescued multiple children during raids conducted across different locations in the capital. Preliminary investigations suggest that the network may have involved intermediaries who sourced babies from vulnerable families and facilitated illegal adoptions for financial gain.

Officials are now working to identify the rescued children and trace their biological families. Authorities have also launched a broader investigation to determine the full extent of the trafficking network and whether additional individuals or organizations were involved.

The case has once again drawn attention to child trafficking and illegal adoption practices in India, prompting calls for stricter monitoring of adoption procedures and stronger protection measures for vulnerable children and families.
