Delhi Government Withdraws Cases Against NEET Protesters

The Delhi government has announced that it will not pursue legal action against those who participated in the protest at Jantar Mantar over the alleged NEET-UG question paper leak. However, it clarified that legal proceedings will continue against individuals with criminal backgrounds, in accordance with a Supreme Court order.

The government said all 13 cases registered by the Delhi Police in connection with the protest have been withdrawn. The Delhi Home Ministry has also directed the immediate release of those arrested or detained in relation to the demonstrations, following due verification.

Authorities further stated that the matter has been closed and that no additional investigations or legal action will be initiated over the protest.

The demonstration began at Jantar Mantar on June 20, with protesters demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged irregularities in the education sector, including the NEET-UG examination paper leak.

According to the government, the protest concluded on July 25 following Pradhan's resignation. During the demonstrations, several participants were arrested and multiple cases were filed against them.

Protest groups had been demanding the release of those arrested and the withdrawal of all related cases. The government has now confirmed that all cases registered in connection with the protest have been cancelled.
