Alleged Underworld Figure ‘Konda Ranji’ Arrested After Deportation from Dubai

Alleged underworld figure Ranjith Kumara, alias “Konda Ranji,” has been arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) following his deportation to Sri Lanka from Dubai, police said.

The suspect was taken into CID custody after arriving at Bandaranaike International Airport.

Konda Ranji was arrested in Dubai earlier this year and remained in custody there while Sri Lankan authorities took steps to secure his return.

Police have previously identified him as an alleged organised crime and drug trafficking figure.

Investigators have also linked him to an ongoing probe into the alleged laundering and overseas transfer of money believed to have been generated through drug trafficking.

Further investigations are underway.
