The teams that have advanced to the Super Eights stage of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 have automatically qualified for the next edition of the tournament, which will be hosted by Australia and New Zealand in 2028.
Pakistan sealed the final Super Eights spot with a victory over Namibia on Wednesday. The former champions progressed from Group A alongside India. From Group B, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe advanced, while West Indies and England moved forward from Group C. South Africa and New Zealand qualified from Group D to complete the Super Eights lineup in the 20-team tournament.
As co-hosts of the 2028 edition, Australia and New Zealand were granted automatic qualification. Under tournament regulations, all teams reaching the Super Eights — including New Zealand — have now secured their places at the 2028 event, joining Australia.
The remaining automatic qualification spots will be filled by the next three highest-ranked teams in the ICC Men’s T20I Team Rankings as of 9 March, the day after the scheduled final.
Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Ireland are expected to claim those places, as there are no upcoming international fixtures before the cut-off date that could impact their rankings.
The final eight spots in the 20-team tournament will be decided through regional qualification pathways, with berths allocated according to the relative strength of each region.
