Shammi Silva and SLC Executive Committee Resign After Special Meeting

Shammi Silva, President of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), along with the SLC Executive Committee, has decided to resign following a special committee meeting held today.

The resignation brings an end to Silva’s seven-year tenure at the helm of Sri Lanka Cricket.

Earlier reports indicated that Silva was expected to step down after a request from the government.

According to further reports, former MP and State Minister Eran Wickramaratne is likely to be appointed as the interim president of Sri Lanka Cricket.

Silva was first elected as SLC President in February 2019 and retained the position after securing victory in multiple subsequent elections.
