Schools Closed in Nuwara Eliya and Hatton Education Zones Due to Bad Weather

All schools in the Nuwara Eliya and Hatton Education Zones have been closed today (August 3) due to the prevailing adverse weather conditions affecting the Nuwara Eliya District.

Central Province Director of Education Nayomi Hettiarachchi said that school principals in the Hatton, Nuwara Eliya, Kotmale, Gampola, Teldeniya, and Kandy Education Zones have also been instructed to assess weather conditions in their respective areas and decide whether to conduct school activities.

The directive comes as heavy rainfall continues to affect several parts of the Central Province, with authorities urging schools to prioritize the safety of students and staff.
