Sarath Weerawansa Granted Bail in State Vehicle Misuse Case

Sarath Weerawansa, the brother of former Minister Wimal Weerawansa, was granted bail by the Colombo Magistrate’s Court today after being produced before the court.

Weerawansa appeared before the magistrate this morning, where the court ordered his release on bail.

He was arrested over allegations of misusing vehicles belonging to the State Engineering Corporation, an offense that allegedly caused financial losses to the government.

According to Police, Weerawansa was taken into custody by the Financial Crimes Investigation Division on July 15 as part of the ongoing investigation into the alleged misuse of state-owned vehicles.
