Nine Petitions Filed in Supreme Court Challenging 22nd Amendment Bill

Copies of two additional petitions filed in the Supreme Court challenging the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution Bill have been received by the Speaker.

Speaking in Parliament today (21), Speaker Dr. Jagath Wickramaratne said the two petitions were received in addition to seven petitions submitted over the past two days, on August 19 and 20.

Three petitions challenging the Constitutional Amendment Bill were received by the Speaker on August 19, while four more were received yesterday (20).

Accordingly, the Speaker has received copies of a total of nine petitions filed in the Supreme Court challenging the 22nd Constitutional Amendment Bill.
