Mahinda Rajapaksa Gives Statement to Bribery Commission Over Airbus Deal

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa has left the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption after recording a statement today.

Rajapaksa reportedly spent nearly two hours at the Bribery Commission in connection with the alleged Airbus aircraft deal involving SriLankan Airlines.

The former President had been summoned by the Commission regarding allegations that a bribe of US$2 million was paid during the purchase of Airbus aircraft for SriLankan Airlines in 2013.
