Iran Claims U.S. Targeted Funeral Route of Ayatollah Khamenei, Warns of Further Retaliation

Iran's Revolutionary Guard has accused the United States of attempting to disrupt the funeral procession of Iran's Supreme Leader, AyatollahAli Khamenei, following his death in an alleged U.S.-Israeli attack.

After public mourning ceremonies in Tehran, Khamenei's body was transported to Karbala, Iraq, for religious rites. According to reports, he is scheduled to be buried in his hometown of Mashhad today (09).

The Revolutionary Guard claimed that U.S. forces targeted two bridges on the roads leading to Mashhad in an effort to interfere with the funeral procession.

In response, the Guard said it launched missile attacks on U.S. military bases in Bahrain and Kuwait. It also warned that if similar actions are carried out again, additional U.S. military installations across the region would be targeted.

The United States has not officially responded to Iran's allegations.
