Government Radiology Technologists Launch Islandwide Strike

The Government Radiology Technologists Association has announced a 24-hour symbolic strike in all government hospitals across the island, commencing at 8.00 a.m. today (21).

Chairman of the association, Chanaka Dharmawickrama, said the strike is in protest against the Ministry of Health’s failure to take action over what he described as arbitrary conduct by the Deputy Director of the Maligawatta Kidney Hospital.

Meanwhile, a separate strike launched by the Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA) in the Eastern Province is continuing for the fifth consecutive day today. According to GMOA Media Spokesperson Dr. Chamil Wijesinghe, the protest is being carried out in opposition to the conduct of the Medical Superintendent of the Akkarayapattu Hospital.
