Fuel Price Revision May Be Considered at End of September, Energy Minister Says

Energy Minister Anura Karunathilaka says the government may consider revising fuel prices at the end of September in response to the recent increase in global fuel prices.

Speaking at an event in Galle today (20), the Minister said the government is currently assessing whether the public can bear a further increase, noting that domestic fuel prices are already at a relatively high level.

He said prevailing international fuel prices will be taken into consideration when the government reviews domestic fuel prices at the end of the month.

The Minister added that a decision on any possible revision would be made after considering the impact on the public.
