Dilshan Madushanka Added to Sri Lanka T20 World Cup Squad

Sri Lanka have been hit by a major setback as key pacer Matheesha Pathirana has been ruled out for the remainder of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup due to injury.

Pathirana suffered a muscle strain in his left leg during Sri Lanka’s recent match against Australia in Kandy and was forced to leave the field barely into his first over. The fast bowler will not be fit to feature in any further games in the tournament.

In response, Dilshan Madushanka has been named as his replacement, with the ICC Event Technical Committee officially approving the squad change on Wednesday.

The absence of Pathirana further weakens Sri Lanka’s bowling options, as the team is already without star all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga.

Sri Lanka are set to face Zimbabwe in their final group-stage match on Thursday in Colombo.
