The Colombo National Eye Hospital has introduced a new SMS notification service to help patients keep track of their upcoming treatment appointments.
According to the hospital’s Deputy Director, Jayaruwan Bandara, patients will receive a text message on their mobile phones informing them of the date of their next scheduled treatment.
He said the new system would make it easier for patients to remember and check their upcoming appointments. The hospital has already begun sending SMS notifications to approximately 80,000 patients.
Around 600 patients visit the National Eye Hospital each day for treatment, while approximately 100 new patients are registered daily, according to hospital authorities.
Meanwhile, Deputy Director Jayaruwan Bandara confirmed that the hospital’s emergency treatment unit continues to operate 24 hours a day.
Patients visiting the hospital are required to complete the necessary procedures and submit their hospital records to Room No. 10 on the day of their visit.
Following the submission of their records, patients will receive an SMS notification containing details of their next treatment date on the same day.
