CID Investigation - Senior DIG Varuna Jayasundara Leaves After Giving Statement

Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) for the Eastern Province, Varuna Jayasundara, has left the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) premises after recording a statement this morning (02).

He had been summoned to the CID in connection with an ongoing investigation into alleged contacts with Kehelpatara Padme, a suspected member of an organised crime group.

Reports indicate that Jayasundara spent around four hours at the CID before departing after providing his statement. The questioning was related to details emerging from the continuing investigation into the suspect’s network and possible links.
