A group of detainees at Boossa High-Security Prison who climbed onto the roof of D Ward and engaged in unruly behaviour, causing damage to prison property, were brought under control last night (16), the Prisons Department spokesperson said.
The Department of Prisons confirmed that the inmates involved in the disturbance will be transferred to other facilities.
According to the spokesperson, the inmates staged a protest against the prison administration while on the roof of D Ward, during which they damaged prison property.
The situation was brought under control after prison officers and police intervened. The Department of Prisons has launched a special investigation into the incident.
