Afternoon Showers Expected in Several Province

The Department of Meteorology says that rain or thundershowers are likely to occur in parts of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, Central, Uva, and North-Western provinces after 1:00 pm.

Light showers may also occur during the morning in coastal areas of the Western and Southern provinces, as well as in the Puttalam District. Meanwhile, fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 50 mm is expected at some locations in the Sabaragamuwa Province and in the Galle, Matara, Kandy, and Nuwara Eliya districts.

The rest of the island is expected to experience mainly fair weather conditions. However, misty conditions may prevail in parts of the Central, Sabaragamuwa, North-Central, and Uva provinces, along with the Galle, Matara, and Kurunegala districts during the early morning hours.

The Department of Meteorology has urged the public to take necessary precautions to minimize potential damage caused by temporary strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
