ACPOSL Temporarily Suspends Music Licensing for Weddings and Private Events

The Association of Creators and Publishers of Sri Lanka (ACPOSL) has temporarily suspended its music licensing requirements for weddings, private parties and DJs, pending further decisions by its membership.

The association said a final decision on whether licensing requirements should continue for weddings and private events, including birthday parties, will be taken at its general meeting scheduled for November.

According to ACPOSL, any permanent change to the existing licensing system would require the approval of two-thirds of its membership, as the Board of Directors does not have the authority to make such a decision independently.

The association also announced that licensing requirements for DJs performing at events have been temporarily suspended while discussions continue regarding international music rights arrangements.

ACPOSL clarified that its licensing framework applies to the commercial use of music at venues and events and does not apply to private functions held at homes.
